Festival of Wine and Gastronomy, Ribeauvillé Wine enthusiast Alsace
We know that a wine enthusiast such as yourself likes to be in the right place at the right time. So diary at the ready! On the third weekend in July, one of the oldest of Alsace’s wine festivals takes place just a few kilometres from Colmar: the Festival of Wine and Gastronomy in Ribeauvillé. The event includes a tasting of over 240 AOC wines, from renowned Grands Crus to Crémants d’Alsace sparkling wines. A comprehensive tour of the region’s wines and a chance to meet around 20 of Alsace’s winemakers. After the liquids, it’s time for some solids. Eight restaurant owners, two pâtissierie chefs, one cheese maker, and one distiller will be ready and waiting to take you on a gastronomic tour of the region. As you’ve no doubt realised by now, this event is less a festival and more of a tradition in Alsace. One where for three days the entire village lets loose in Ribeauvillé’s public park, the Jardin de Ville, with folk music, entertainment and a fairground. Each wine and food matching costs €6.50. An unmissable stop for anyone in the region.
