The wine region of Alsace cultivates its festive tradition. Wine festivals, gourmet walks, fairs, marathons: throughout the year, the wine-growing villages celebrate the wines of Alsace!

The annual festive traditions have been anchored in the lifestyle of Alsace since the Middle Ages. As early as January, kings are celebrated with galette cakes (galette des rois) and a glass of Alsace wine. In February, the vineyards awake to the rhythm of carnivals.

At Easter, the villages along the wine route are draped in decorations to host the Easter egg hunt and the famous Easter markets. It’s also the beginning of the wine fair season, with various markets and wine events. Up until October, the villages organize all kinds of events: traditional, unusual, sporting, and always festive.

In summer as in winter, Alsace wines are for all celebrations

The summer lifestyle in Alsace follows the rhythm of the many events celebrating wine. The wine cellars open their doors, the winemakers organize novel wine tastings and parades and dances bring traditional customs back to life. Do you like sport? Go on a gourmet walk at Slow Up, or run the Vineyard Marathon.

In autumn, the time of the grape harvest, the new wine is honoured. Finally, from early November comes the season to celebrate the Alsace Christmas. The enchanting Christmas markets light up the streets and fill the air with the scent of gingerbread and mulled wine. Many winemakers welcome you into their beautifully decorated vineyards and offer a programme of activities to accompany tastings of Alsace wines and other Christmas delicacies.
